These beautiful baskets are made from all natural fibre (leaves harvested from the Pandanus Spiralis plant). Women artists like Sylvia Nulpinditj from Ramingining in central Arnhem Land have been weaving with natural materials for tens of thousands of years. As a fibre artist, Sylvia uses a variety of construction techniques: coiling, looping and twining. Each vessel created reflects the ability of the weaver, both in its construction and the botanical and chemical knowledge applied in the dying process along with the intended use of the fibre item.
